Whole apartment or just two bedrooms? How to choose

The same apartment is offered at more than one size. Which to book depends on how many of you there are and whether you want the place to yourselves.

The same apartment here is sold at more than one size. You can take the whole thing, or you can take part of it for less. Both are real options rather than a trick of wording, and which one you want comes down to two questions: how many of you there are, and whether you mind sharing the building.

What is on offer

  • Self-Contained, one bedroom, ₦50,000 a night
  • One-Bedroom Flat, Extension, one bedroom, ₦100,000 a night
  • Two Bedrooms in the Main Apartment, 2 bedrooms, ₦150,000 a night
  • Whole Apartment, 4 Bedrooms, 4 bedrooms, ₦250,000 a night

Each is one price for the whole let, per night. It is not a per-person rate and it is not multiplied by the number of bedrooms.

What is actually being sold

Worth understanding before you choose, because it decides which option suits you.

In the main apartment, the bedrooms are what you book and what lock. The sitting room, the kitchen and the gym are open: there is no key to them and no door to close on them.

So the question is not really how much space you get. It is how many of the four bedrooms are yours, and therefore whether anybody else is sharing the open areas with you.

Taking the whole apartment

All four bedrooms, which means the whole place: the sitting room, the kitchen and the gym are yours too, because nobody else has a room there. One code opens your doors.

This is the one to book if you are a family, a group travelling together, or anybody who would rather not meet a stranger in the kitchen at seven in the morning. It is also the straightforward answer for a small gathering, since the living space is genuinely private rather than merely quiet.

Taking two bedrooms

Two bedrooms of the same apartment, at one flat rate. The other two may be let to somebody else for those nights, and if they are, you share the sitting room, kitchen and gym with them. Your bedrooms lock; the open areas do not.

Two is also the smallest number that can be booked. There is no single-room rate in the main apartment.

The bedrooms are allocated for you, you do not pick which two. They are the same rooms to the same standard, and which pair you get depends on what is free. If a particular room matters to you, say so when you book and we will do what we can, though it is not a guarantee we will make in advance.

If sharing a kitchen with strangers is the thing you would mind, take the whole apartment, or take one of the stand-alone units, where nothing is shared at all.

The stand-alone units

Separately from the main apartment there are units that share nothing with anybody: their own entrance, their own everything. If what you are buying is privacy rather than space, those are the better answer, and they cost less. Both are in the price list above.

What you get either way

The bedrooms are the same bedrooms. Taking two rather than all four does not get you a lesser class of room, because there is no lesser class: it is one apartment and you are taking part of it instead of all of it.

What changes is who else is in the open areas with you.

If you are staying a while

For stays beyond a few nights the sums move. The whole apartment starts to look sensible at a length where the living space stops being a luxury and starts being the thing that makes the stay bearable: somewhere to work, somewhere to eat that is not a bed, and somewhere to put people who are not asleep yet.

If you are looking at a week or more, talk to the front desk before booking online. A longer stay is worth a conversation rather than a checkout button.

If your group arrives separately

Common, and easily handled, but decide which shape you want before you book.

One booking for the apartment means one code for everybody, and whoever arrives first lets themselves in. Simple, and the usual choice for a family.

Separate bookings for separate rooms means a code each and a bill each. Take this one if people are paying for themselves, or if colleagues should not be able to open each other's rooms. It is the slightly more expensive route per bedroom, and for good reason: you are buying four independent stays rather than one.

How availability works between the two

This is the question we get most, and the answer is reassuring: the two listings cannot be sold on top of each other.

They draw from the same physical bedrooms. The moment two of them are let, the whole-apartment option goes unavailable for those nights automatically, because two of its bedrooms are gone. And once the whole apartment is let, the two-bedroom option disappears for those nights too.

If the site says it is free, it is free. There is no bait rate here and no phantom room: the availability you see is the same inventory the front desk works from.

A short way to decide

  • Six or more of you, or you want the place to yourselves — the whole apartment.
  • Three or four of you, and you do not mind the rest of the building being occupied — two bedrooms.
  • One or two of you — take the smallest let that fits. Paying for four bedrooms to sleep in one is money for nothing.

Check your dates to see which sizes are free, or look at the rooms first. If you are weighing up a longer stay, the front desk can talk through rates over several nights.
